anti-reflective coating

An anti-reflective or anti-reflection (AR) coating is a type of optical coating applied to the surface of lenses and other optical devices to reduce reflection. This improves the efficiency of the system since less light is lost. In complex systems such as a telescope, the reduction in reflections also improves the contrast of the image by eliminating stray light. This is especially important in planetary astronomy. In other applications, the primary benefit is the elimination of the reflection itself, such as a coating on eyeglass lenses that makes the eyes of the wearer more visible to others, or a coating to reduce the glint from a covert viewer’s binoculars or telescopic sight. The anti-reflective coating we are using is 7 layers which makes it very durable. We offer you for free a one-year warranty on all our coatings.

Anti-scratch coating

An anti-scratch or scratch-resistant coating is a film or coating that can be applied to optical surfaces, such as the faces of a lens or photographic film. The coating does not interfere with how the lenses function and does not affect vision, but creates a permanent bond with the lens that reduces the appearance of hairline scratches which is common to eyeglass lenses. Though an anti-scratch coating is not 100% scratch-proof, it helps to prevent minor scratches that can easily happen to a regular lens. These minor scratches can damage the surface of the lens and impair vision. An anti-scratch coating acts as a protective layer thus making the lenses more durable.

bifocals lenses

Bifocals are eyeglasses with two distinct optical powers. Bifocals are most commonly prescribed to people with presbyopia who also require a correction for myopia, hyperopia, and/or astigmatism. Bifocals have 2 separate parts, the upper part for distance and the lower part for reading. The best thing with Bifocals is it serves a dual purpose for those people who hate changing from distance eyeglasses to reading glasses and vice-versa.

Newlook Eyewear offers an amazing package from a selection of frames with bifocal lenses: the complete pair of eyeglasses for only $69. This package makes us the lowest price in Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, and Lighthouse Point area.

High-Index-Lenses

Hi-Index lenses
(Thin lenses)

As consumers, our demand for thinner and lighter products has impacted eyeglass lenses in a very significant way. Most eyeglass wearers are nearsighted, and a basic physical property of nearsighted lenses is that their edges are thicker than their centers. The stronger the prescription, the thicker the edges (see lens drawings below). Most of today’s fashionable frames are made of plastic or metal with rims thinner than the lens itself. Also very popular are rimless mountings, where the lens edges are completely exposed. In either case, the lens edges are highly visible, and thicker edges can detract from the appearance of the eyewear. We provide four kinds of thinner lenses: 1.57 called thin and lite, 1.6 called super thin, 1.67 called extra thin, and 1.74 the thinnest lenses in the world.

photochromatic lenses (transitions lenses)

Photochromic lenses are lenses that darken on exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Once the UV is removed (for example by walking indoors), the lenses will gradually return to their clear state. Photochromic lenses may be made of polycarbonate, or other plastics.

progressive lenses (no lined bifocals)

Progressive spectacle lenses, also called progressive addition lenses (PAL), progressive power lenses, graduated prescription lenses, and varifocal or multifocal lenses, are corrective lenses used in eyeglasses to correct presbyopia and other disorders of accommodation. They are characterized by a gradient of increasing lens power, added to the wearer’s correction for the other refractive errors. The gradient starts at the wearer’s distance prescription, at the top of the lens and reaches a maximum addition power, or the full reading addition, at the bottom of the lens. The length of the progressive power gradient on the lens surface depends on the refractive index of the lens, with a final addition power between 0.75 to 3.50 diopters for most wearers. The addition value prescribed depends on the level of presbyopia of the patient and is closely related to age and to a lesser extent, existing prescription.

NewLook EyeWear will provide you the lowest price on all progressive lenses. We will beat any price by 10% from ANY OPTICAL STORE located in Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach or Lighthouse Point.

single vision lenses

Single vision lenses have one fixed focus point or correction over the entire lens area. They can be used for either near, intermediate or distance vision. For example; glasses for driving or reading are single vision.
